Are floaters dangerous?
Many floaters are harmless, but a sudden increase in floaters or flashes can indicate a retinal tear and should be checked urgently.
How often should a diabetic have an eye check?
Most people with diabetes should have a retina screening at least once a year, or more often if changes are found. Early diabetic retinopathy usually has no symptoms.
Can vision lost to retinal disease be restored?
Some treatments can stabilise or partly improve vision, but vision already lost may not return – which is why early detection matters so much.
